Sac Osage Electric Cooperative in association with Associated Electric Cooperative (AECI) offers rebates on Energy Star ground source heat pumps (GSHP) and dual fuel heat pumps (DFHP).

GROUND SOURCE HEAT PUMP REBATE QUALIFICATIONS:

ELIGIBLE MEMBERS

• Residential and commercial members in good standing with the cooperative are eligible for rebates when buying qualifying ground source (geothermal) heat pumps.
• The structure in which the member resides must be a permanent structure on a permanent foundation on the land owned by the member.
• Rebates are limited to eligible services (homes, lake homes, shops, barns, commercial buildings, etc) that purchase more than 6,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity from the cooperative on an annual basis.

ELIGIBLE HEAT PUMP EQUIPMENT

• Equipment must be installed by a certified dealer and meet the criteria below.
• Electric back-up heat MUST be separated from the ground source unit with a separate breaker.
• Ground source systems must be installed with specific Delta-T calculations supported by a Manual J “Residential
Load Calculation” published by the Air Conditioning Contractors of America as follows: North of the Missouri
River = 80; South of the Missouri River = 70. Ask your HVAC contractor to verify that these requirements are met.
• The cooperative may inspect the facility to determine if R-38 insulation is present in the ceiling and R-13 in the walls.
• Heat pumps that receive rebates may be subject to cooperative load control programs. The participant agrees to allow
the cooperative to control their heating and cooling equipment now or in the future.
• Rebates are limited to a maximum of 50 tons commercial and 10 tons residential per facility.
• DX (direct expansion) ground source heat pump installations are not eligible for rebates.
• The heat pump may be used to replace existing heat pumps, electric resistance or fossil fuel equipment in the facility.
• System must be sized to the required heating load shown in the Manual J load calculation.
• Heating capacity of a given unit must be determined by heating (Btuh) shown on the AHRI certificate.

ELIGIBLE DUAL FUEL HEAT PUMP EQUIPMENT

• Equipment must be equipped with a new or existing fossil fuel backup heat source.

• Equipment must be installed by a certified dealer and meet the ENERGY STAR Cold Climate Requirement rating of 8.1 HSPF2 or greater.

• Only ducted equipment (mini splits or traditional heat pumps) is eligible.

• Heat pumps that receive rebates may be subject to cooperative load control programs. The participant agrees to allow the cooperative to control their heating and cooling equipment now or in the future.

• Rebates are limited to a maximum of 50 tons commercial and 10 tons residential per facility.

• The heat pump may be used to replace existing heat pumps, electric resistance or fossil fuel equipment in the home.

• Attach copy of invoice and AHRI certificate.

***For new fossil fuel backup heat source*** Attach copy of invoice for newly installed fossil fuel backup heat source.

• Rebates are limited to eligible services (homes, lake homes, shops, barns, etc) that purchase more than 6,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity from the cooperative on an annual basis.

ELIGIBLE HEAT PUMP EQUIPMENT

• Equipment must be installed by a certified dealer and meet the ENERGY STAR minimum rating of 15.2 SEER2.

• Limited to two condensing units per meter.

• Mini split cannot be equipped with auxiliary/backup electric heat.

• Mini split must be a ductless system and therefore cannot be connected to any ductwork.

• Mini splits that receive rebates may be subject to cooperative load control programs. The participant agrees to allow the cooperative to control their heating and cooling equipment now or in the future.

• The mini split may be used to replace or supplement existing heat pumps, electric resistance or fossil fuel equipment in the home.
